House Committee
Our school council is a formal group of pupils who are elected by their peers to represent them and their views.
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that 'children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives.'
A school council can provide a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions, and those of their peers, and have their views taken into account in decisions which have an impact on them. Having a school council, and other representative groups, helps us to collaboratively improve many aspects of school life and provides valuable leadership and development opportunities for our pupils.
Well done to our Oak Five and Oak Six School Council representatives who did a wonderful job leading our special Earth Day Good Work Collective Worship on Friday. You were amazing and made us all so proud! You kept to time perfectly too, which is not always easy when there is such a lot of good work and so many special highlights for everyone to share. Thank you to you all! :-)
